Exploratory Desktop 6.8.0 or newer does not start up on Windows

If Exploratory Desktop 6.8.0 or newer does not start up on your Windows ending with the following situation, please read on for the solution.

  • After double-clicking the Exploratory icon to start it up, the window does not come up.
  • If you look at the Task Manager, the processes for the Exploratory.exe are displayed.

This is caused by a missing Microsoft Visual Studio library that is necessary to run Exploratory Desktop.
Please visit the following page from Microsoft, and download the X64 version of “Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022” (vc_redist.x64.exe)
and install it.

After that, please try starting up Exploratory after killing all the processes for Exploratory.exe displayed in the Task Manager.
